Another day, another hike in the price of gas. AAA reports the national average cost of a gallon of regular now stands at nearly $3.79. The auto club says soaring prices have some folks rethinking their Memorial Day travel plans. Omaha AAA spokesman Rose White says on a 1,000 mile trip, in a car that gets 20 miles per gallon, people are paying about $23 more in fuel than one year ago.

Today is the last day to observe National Bike-to-Work Week. Jon Downey, spokesman for Norfolk's Elkhorn Valley Cycling Club, tells WJAG NEWS in these times of high gasoline prices, he expects to see more bicyclists on the road. And don't forget about the health benefits. Downey says he's had fewer colds since he started cycling on a regular basis. The League of American Bicyclists reports bike companies are responding by manufacturing bikes designed especially for commuters. The League says these new rides are comfortable, easy to pedal, require minimum maintenance, and can be purchased for less than the average car payment.
